You might think that a song in your Spotify playlists might automatically stop playing after you’ve fallen asleep.
But if you use the music control panel on your Spotify account, that won’t work.
This is because the Spotify app doesn’t recognise when you’re actually asleep, and it automatically stops playing music to lull you into a false sense of security.
Spotify says that the problem only occurs when you play songs that are “not currently playing”, but this seems very different to the situation of waking up to discover your favourite song had stopped playing.
Spotify also doesn’t seem to know which song you have on playlists, so if you’re playing songs you’ve been listening to for a long time, then the song you’ve chosen will automatically stop playback.
Spotify users in the UK are now being urged to take action, by Twitter user @kathie_channell.
